When you think about the best phones you can buy today, the most expensive, flagship devices often have OLED displays. This type of panel allows displays to be more vibrant and more colorful, but they can also deliver true blacks and potentially save power. It's taken some time for OLED displays to become more common on laptops, but today, many of the best laptops offer that option. OLED is still mostly a premium feature, so most of the laptops available come with a fairly high price tag, but that also means they're great in just about every way. Here are some of our favorites.

The best laptops with OLED displays in 2023

Lenovo Yoga 9i (2023)
Best overall

The best laptop on the market

The Lenovo Yoga 9i is the best consumer laptop on the market, featuring 13th-generation Intel processors and a stunning OLED display in two different configurations. It also has a solid 1080p webcam with Windows Hello support and a beautiful shiny design.

  • Fast 13th-generation Intel Core i7 processor
  • Stunning OLED display with either 2.8K or 4K options
  • Gorgeous metal design with shiny edges
  • No place to attach a pen if needed

The 2022 Lenovo Yoga 9i was our favorite laptop of that year, and the 2023 model is repeating that feat by simply improving on the essentials.

Lenovo only really changed the performance for this year's model, upgrading to an Intel Core i7-1360P, with 12 cores and 16 threads that deliver fantastic performance for day-to-day tasks. That processor also includes Intel Iris Xe graphics, though that's basically the same as last year. It also comes with 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD, all you need for a great experience.

However, you came here to talk about the display. Lenovo is still using a 14-inch panel with a 16:10 aspect ratio, but it has done away with the IPS panel option this year. Now, the Yoga 9i comes with a 2.8K OLED 90Hz panel by default, though you can upgrade to a 4K 60Hz display if you prefer that. The screen supports touch and pen input, as expected for a convertible. The Lenovo Yoga 9i also has a fantastic audio system with a soundbar built into the hinge, so the media experience is fantastic overall. Above the display is a 1080p webcam with Windows Hello support, too.

As for the design, it's exactly the same as last year, but that's not a bad thing. It's an aluminum laptop with matte surfaces and shiny polished edges that make it look gorgeous, both in Storm Grey and Oatmeal color options. It's fairly light, too, coming in at 3.09 pounds. Lenovo also packed a decent number of ports in here, including two Thunderbolt 4 connections, USB Type-A, and a headphone jack, which is solid for a premium laptop these days.

At the end of the day, the 2023 Lenovo Yoga 9i gets a ton right. It has a stunning design, an even better display, plenty of performance, and more. It's one of the best laptops on the market, and with two great OLED display options, it more than earns its place on this list.

Front view of Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro
Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro
Best lightweight laptop

A stunning OLED display in a portable chassis

The Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro has one of the best AMOLED displays on any laptop, with sharp 2.8K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It also has high-end Intel processors and other specs, all wrapped in a thin premium chassis.

  • 2.8K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate
  • Premium aluminum build and a surprisingly thin chassis
  • More ports than most competing premium laptops
  • No Windows Hello facial recognition
  • HDMI output doesn't support 4K at 60Hz

Samsung has been making great OLED laptops for a couple of years now, but the Galaxy Book 3 Pro is a major step forward in multiple ways, and it earns its place as one of the very best of its kind.

Inside the Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro are 13th-generation Intel Core processors, up to a Core i7-1360P with 12 cores and 16 threads, delivering solid performance for all kinds of tasks. It also comes with 16GB of RAM and up to a 1TB SSD for storage, not too far off from the Yoga 9i above.

The biggest upgrade the Galaxy Book 3 Pro delivers compared to its predecessor is the Dynamic AMOLED 2X display. There are 14-inch and 16-inch versions of this laptop, but both now come with a 16:10 aspect ratio and a super sharp 2.8K resolution, a massive improvement in quality and usability. On top of that, the 120Hz refresh rate makes everything appear even smoother. The webcam is the same, though: a 1080p sensor without Windows Hello support (though there's a fingerprint reader for that).

Another notable change with this model is the design, with Samsung now using an aluminum chassis instead of magnesium. This results in a much more premium feel, but it makes the laptop a bit heavier than its predecessor, at 2.58 pounds for the 14-inch and 3.44 pounds for the 16-inch model. Both sizes come in Graphite or Beige colorways, and the larger model has a number pad. There's a great supply of ports on both, with two Thunderbolt 4 ports, USB Type-A, HDMI, a headphone jack, and a microSD card reader. The HDMI port doesn't support 4K 60Hz displays, but it's nice to have HDMI at all, considering many premium laptops skip it.

Overall, the Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro is a fantastic laptop, and while the 16-inch version is a bit on the larger side, you can go with either model as both are extremely portable.

Dell XPS 13 Plus (2023)
Great alternative

An ultra-modern clamshell laptop with a stunning display

The 2023 Dell XPS 13 Plus comes with upgraded 13th-generation Intel Core processors while keeping the futuristic and sleek design it's known for, including an invisible touchpad and a stunning 3.5K OLED display as a configuration option.

  • Super-sharp 3.5K OLED display option
  • Great performance with 13th-gen Intel Core processors
  • Futuristic design looks incredibly sleek
  • The invisible touchpad and function row may take some getting used to
  • Limited ports
  • 720p webcam

Dell's XPS lineup is one of the most popular among Windows laptops, and after the completely redesigned XPS 13 Plus in 2022, the 2023 model is a small refresh, but it's still a great choice.

The only thing that's really changed this year is the processor, which now comes with up to an Intel Core i7-1360P, a 12-core, 16-thread CPU that should deliver a nice performance bump over the 2022 model, thanks to boost speeds going up to 5GHz. Otherwise, you can go up to 32GB of RAM (which is faster now) and a 2TB SSD for storage.

Unlike the laptops above, the Dell XPS 13 Plus doesn't come with an OLED display by default, but it does give you the option for a fantastic 3.5K OLED. For a 13.4-inch display with a 16:10 aspect ratio, that's incredibly sharp, and the screen supports touch, too. Unfortunately, the webcam, is still a 720p sensor, something Dell refuses to fix with its XPS laptops. It does support Windows Hello facial recognition, though.

After a major design shift for the 2022 model, this year's Dell XPS 13 Plus stays the same, but it still feels super modern. Features like the invisible touchpad, zero-lattice keyboard, and touch function row make this an extremely sleek laptop that looks great in both Platinum and Graphite colorways. It's a light laptop, too, weighing 2.77 pounds for the OLED model. Ports are very limited, though, with just two Thunderbolt 4 ports out of the box. You get adapters in the box for USB Type-A and a headphone jack if you need them, though this still isn't ideal.

While the futuristic design comes with some compromises, the Dell XPS 13 Plus is a phenomenal laptop in most ways, and that stunning 3.5K OLED displays pushes it even higher. We've reviewed the 2022 model, which is identical in many ways.

Gigabyte Aero 16 OLED (2023)
Great for gamers

Make your games look and run their best

The Gigabyte Aero 16 OLED has a powerful Intel Core processor and the latest GeForce RTX 40-series graphics cards paired with a 4K OLED display for an all-around great gaming experience. Unlike most gaming laptops, it's pretty thin and has a fairly minimalist design.

  • Fast Intel Core processors
  • Plenty of ports
  • Fairly thin despite its powerful specs
  • Refresh rate can be higher
  • Expensive

With their vibrant colors, high contrast ratios, and wide viewing angles, OLED displays serve as great additions to gaming laptops. Unfortunately, there has been a noticeable lack of proper gaming-oriented laptops that feature OLED panels this year. Although the Gigabyte Aero 16 OLED is built like a workstation, this powerhouse of an OLED laptop is capable of running the most graphically intensive games with ease.

Performance-wise, you get what you pay for, with the base model housing a powerful Intel Core i7-13700H processor. The 14-core and 20-thread CPU boasts a maximum clock speed of 5.00GHz to deliver solid performance for all your gaming needs. But if you want even more horsepower out of your system, you can go for the Intel Core i9-13900H, which has a slightly higher clock speed of 5.40 GHz. The cheapest Aero 16 laptop comes with a modest RTX 4060 graphics card, but you can upgrade to an RTX 4070 GPU if you don't wish to turn down the graphical settings in your favorite games. The laptop also comes with 32GB DDR5 RAM and 1TB of Gen4 M.2 SSD storage to provide a well-rounded gaming experience.

The display on the Gigabyte Aero 16 is an OLED panel with a screen resolution 3840x2400, so it's pretty sharp. The tall 16:10 aspect ratio is also a plus-point, though the 60Hz refresh rate leaves a lot to be desired. Luckily, the laptop doesn't skimp out on the webcam as you get a 1080p front camera that supports Windows Hello face authentication.

The laptop weighs 4.19 pounds, and while its thickness can vary depending on its configuration, a maximum of 22mm isn't bad for a laptop of its caliber. The lack of gamer-esque aesthetics is a welcome addition, and its beautiful silver chassis has a decent number of ports. You get three USB Type-C connections, a USB Type-A port, a microSD card reader, an HDMI connection and even an audio jack, though users of LAN connections might want to invest in a dock as the laptop lacks a dedicated RJ45 Ethernet port.

The Gigabyte Aero 16 may not be built like your typical flashy gaming laptop, but it's easily our top pick for a high-performance OLED battlestation.

Angled rear view of the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon laptop facing left
Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 11
Best business laptop

A beautiful screen for getting work done

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon may be the most well-known business laptop on the market, and for good reason. It has fast Intel processors and packs a solid 2.8K OLED display, all while retaining the sleek and premium business-style design ThinkPads are known for.

  • Optional 2.8K OLED display
  • 13th-generation Intel Core U- or P-series processors
  • Classic ThinkPad design is great for business
  • ThinkPad design may not be suitable for more modern audiences
  • RAM is soldered onto the laptop

Lenovo's ThinkPad X1 Carbon is one of the best and most iconic business laptops ever, and while the Gen 11 model doesn't change much, it's still one of the very best you can buy.

Starting with performance, we're looking at 13th-generation Intel Core processors, this time with the option to choose up to a Core i7-1365U or a Core i7-1370P, both supporting vPro Enterprise technologies. The U-series processors are more power-efficient than the P-series models, but they're not as fast, so you can choose based on whether you want more performance or better battery life. The laptop can also be configured with up to 64GB of RAM (which is soldered) and a 2TB SSD.

Most of the display options have remained the same, and while most configurations of the ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 11 come with an IPS panel, you still have the option to choose a 2.8K OLED display. This is extremely sharp for a 14-inch panel with a 16:10 aspect ratio, and of course, it has the usual benefits of OLED. You also get a 1080p webcam right above that display, with the option to add Windows Hello and Computer Vision support.

As you'd expect, the design is basically unchanged, with the black surfaces and red accents you know and (possibly) love from previous ThinkPads. It's a look that's probably divisive, but it's loved by a lot of people. What's a clear win is the portability, seeing as the ThinkPad X1 Carbon weighs just 2.48 pounds. There's a good setup of ports, too, including two Thunderbolt 4 and two USB Type-A ports, HDMI, and a headphone jack. And if you need internet wherever you go, you can also add LTE or 5G connectivity.

It's no surprise by now, but the ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 11 is one of the best business laptops on the market, and the OLED display makes it even sweeter. We've reviewed the Gen 10 model, which is very similar aside from having older processors.

Dell XPS 15 (2023)
Best 15-inch laptop

Powerful performance in a svelte chassis

The Dell XPS 15 is one of the best 15-inch laptops, offering a great combination of performance and portability. It has powerful Intel H-series processors and up to Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 graphics packed into a relatively thin design, and of course, an optional 3.5K OLED display.

  • 13th-gen Intel Core H-series processors and Nvidia RTX graphics
  • Optional 3.5K OLED display looks stunning
  • Slim chassis
  • 720p webcam
  • A little heavy
  • Design is starting to feel a little dated

The Dell XPS 15 has consistently been one of the best 15-inch laptops on the market, and that status remains true with the 2023 model, even though not much has changed.

Performance is the area where Dell put most of its focus this time around, upgrading to 13th-generation Intel Core processors, up to a Core i9-13900H with 14 cores and 20 threads. But the real upgrade is actually the GPU, with the transition to Nvidia's RTX 40 series, up to an RTX 4070 with 8GB of memory (the 2022 model maxed out with an RTX 3050 Ti). This will make a big difference for content creation and even gaming, plus the laptop also comes with up to 64GB of RAM and an 8TB SSD.

Nothing else has changed with the 2023 model, but that's not necessarily bad. The 15.6-inch panel with a 16:10 aspect ratio gives you the option for a stunning 3.5K OLED panel, which covers 100% of DCI-P3. Plus, a quad-speaker setup with up to 10W of peak output delivers fantastic audio, too. Sadly, the webcam is bad, being the same 720p sensor Dell has been using for years. It does have Windows Hello facial recognition, though.

For how powerful the Dell XPS 15 is, it's not overly large, measuring 18mm in thickness and weighing 4.23 pounds. This year, there's only one color option, with a silver exterior and black carbon fiber interior. As for ports, the setup is the same as before, with two Thunderbolt 4 ports, a standard USB-C port, a headphone jack, and a full-size SD card reader. You also get an adapter for USB Type-A and HDMI if you need those ports.

Aside from the stagnant design language, the 2023 Dell XPS 15 is still one of the very best laptops on the market, and it's more powerful than ever.

ASUS ProArt StudioBook 16 OLED (2023)
Best for creators

Enhance your productivity with an OLED screen

The Asus ProArt StudioBook 16 OLED is a powerful laptop for creators, with 13th-generation Intel Core HX-series processors and Nvidia GeForce RTX 40 series graphics. It also has a built-in Asus dial, providing quick granular controls in certain media apps.

  • Powerful Intel Core processors and Nvidia 40-series GPUs
  • 1080p front camera with Windows Hello
  • 16:10 aspect ratio and 120Hz refresh rate
  • Default 16GB RAM can be a bottleneck

Aside from the processor, an OLED screen is perhaps the most valued feature in the photo and video editing community. There are plenty of decent OLED laptops on the market, but not a single one comes close to the Asus ProArt StudioBook 16.

Starting with the specs, the ProArt StudioBook 16 is armed with Intel's Core i9-13980HX CPU that delivers strong performance with its 5.6GHz turbo clock speed and a whooping 24 cores and 32 threads. This top-of-the-line processor is paired with an Nvidia RTX 4060 graphics card, and you can go for the high-end model with an RTX 4070 for a solid boost to your video editing and graphics rendering workloads. The default 16GB DDR5 memory can a bit on the lower side for hardware-intensive workloads, but Asus allows you to upgrade the RAM to 64GB. You also get a 1TB NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD to store all your productivity apps.

Display-wise, you get a 16-inch OLED panel with a 3200x2000 resolution and a tall 16:10 aspect ratio. Besides its 120Hz refresh rate, the touchscreen display on the ProArt StudioBook 16 boasts 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, and it supports MPP 2.0 styluses with up to 4096 pressure levels. On top of that, the laptop includes a 1080p front camera with Windows Hello for added security.

At 5.29 pounds, it's not the most portable workstation on the market, but that is to be expected considering its high-end specs. The 2023 model of the Asus ProArt StudioBook 16 has limited color options, but its mineral black body offers plenty of ports, including two USB Type-A connections, two USB Type-C ports, an audio jack, a RJ45 Ethernet port, an HDMI connection, and even an SD card reader. The built-in Asus Dial increases your productivity by giving you more intuitive controls for certain apps.

The Asus ProArt StudioBook 16 may be a bit on the pricey side, but it's the best OLED laptop if you wish to get into content creation.

Angled front view of the Asus Vivobook 15 OLED facing right
Asus Vivobook 15 OLED (2023)
Best budget laptop

A beautiful viewing experience on the cheap

The Asus Vivobook 15 OLED may be an affordable laptop, but it still packs AMD Ryzen 7030U series processors and an OLED display that makes it great for consuming media like movies and TV. It also looks fairly sleek, and it's decently light for its size.

  • AMD Ryzen 7030U series processors
  • OLED display in the base configuration
  • Decently light considering its size
  • No USB4 support
  • 720p webcam
  • Doesn't support DDR5 memory

OLED displays sued to be reserved for premium laptops, but the Asus Vivobook 15 OLED brings that great viewing experience to a much lower price point, all while being a decently modern laptop.

The Asus Vivobook 15 OLED is powered by AMD Ryzen 7030U series processors, specifically starting with a Ryzen 7 7530U, with 6 cores and 12 threads. That already gives you solid day-to-day performance, and the laptop also includes 8GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD to round things out. It gives you a pretty good experience for the price.

But of course, the main draw here is that display, and even with a low price tag of $700, the Asus Vivobook 15 OLED comes with a nice 15.6-inch OLED display. It does come in a more traditional aspect ratio and Full HD resolution, but this is still a fantastic screen for watching movies and shows on, especially since it covers 100% of DCI-P3 and supports HDR. The webcam is a bit of a downside, being a 720p sensor without facial recognition, though at least the laptop has a fingerprint sensor for Windows Hello.

Design isn't really a priority with an affordable laptop, but the Vivobook 15 OLED still manages to look sleek and the 3.75 pounds of weight are not outlandish for a 15-inch laptop. It even passes MIL-STD-810H durability testing, which is really impressive. As for ports, it has one USB Type-C and three Type-A ports, HDMI, and a headphone jack, so there's a good bit of variety here.

The Asus Vivobook 15 OLED is a surprisingly good laptop for the price, and getting such a good OLED display for $700 makes this a bargain. It may not have incredible performance, but for day-to-day use and watching movies, it's fantastic.

Best OLED laptops in 2023: Bottom line

It's certainly great to see OLED displays become more of a mainstay in the laptop market. While this used to be a very premium feature, these types of panels are more widely available than ever, and you can get them for very cheap. The best experience comes from the Lenovo Yoga 9i, which not only has a stunning display, but also a beautifully-crafted chassis, top-tier performance, a fantastic audio experience, and a solid webcam, all packed into a package that's still decently portable. Plus, it's a convertible, and more versatility is always a good thing.

Lenovo Yoga 9i (2023)
Best overall

The best laptop on the market

The Lenovo Yoga 9i is the best consumer laptop on the market, featuring 13th-generation Intel processors and a stunning OLED display in two different configurations. It also has a solid 1080p webcam with Windows Hello support and a beautiful shiny design.

  • Fast 13th-generation Intel Core i7 processor
  • Stunning OLED display with either 2.8K or 4K options
  • Gorgeous metal design with shiny edges
  • No place to attach a pen if needed

With that being said, it's a fairly expensive machine, and thankfully, OLED displays come trickled down to very affordable laptops like the Asus Vivobook 15 OLED. It may not have all the bells and whistles, but it does have a beautiful OLED display with HDR support and great colors for an incredibly low price, and it doesn't make a ton of sacrifices to get there. It still has solid performance and a reasonably light design, so it's really a fantastic choice for the price.

But if you want a thin and light companion with an OLED display, then you should look no further than the Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro. Despite being portable, it's a highly capable laptop with a solid Intel Core i7-1360P processor and a stunning 2.8K AMOLED display.
